Buldeo considers Mowgli no more than a beast because of his ability to talk to animals. When Mowgli takes Mahala to see a spectacular ruined palace deep in the jungle he doesn’t realize that she has picked up a gold coin from the treasure stored there. But when her father finds the coin he turns the town against Mowgli in an effort to discover where the ruins lie. The greedy villagers follow him to the hidden ruins where they turn on one another and eventually destroy all that they care about.
