Tom (Fred Astaire) and Ellen (Jane Powell) Bowen are a brother and sister dance act who are taking their act to play in London while the Royal wedding of Elizabeth II is taking place. On the cruise over to London Ellen becomes involved with Lord John Brindale (Peter Lawford) distracting her from her dancing. So while in London and after dancing with a hatrack and gym equipment Tom interviews for a new partner and meets and falls for Anne Ashmond (Sarah Churchill). Will their love life break up the siblings successful act or will their old dance routines win the day?
