| Kidnapping is a profitable business. At least for the rebels of some small countries. Peter Bowman and his wife Alice (David Morse, Meg Ryan) move to just such a country in South America. When Bowman, an engineer, is kidnapped, the oil company he works for calls in a negotiator. Terry Thorne (Russell Crowe) is good at his job. He gets a lot of practice. It has become almost standard procedure for the rebels to collect ransoms from large American companies. But suddenly the oil company decides not to pay, so it's up to Alice to raise what money she can and talk Thorne into staying on to try to save her husband. |
